I've changed the side menu on www.ukcpu.net so that when you click on a link, any node that was open in the menu will stay open. I've had to add some nested tables, so it's not ideal, but it's beter than the original frames version Smile The general look is the same as before, but I will still be looking for a way to improve on it.

Also added 42 CPUs (2 are just improvements on what I had already, but I added them to this list anyway).

AMD A80486DX2-66N Rev E6
AMD Am5x86-P75 Engraved print
AMD K5-PR100ABR Ceramic Revision F
Cyrix 486DX-33
Cyrix 5x86-100GP, Green heatsink, Series G5
FWE U880D
IIT 2C87-10
IIT XC87SLC-33 AE33AA, Grey print
IIT XC87SLC-33 AE33AA, Bold print
Intel C8087
Intel C8087-3
Intel P8088, 2 different copyrights
Intel DX2ODPR66 SZ904 (a better example than I already had)
Intel Pentium BP80502150 SU071
Intel Pentium MMX FV80503266 SL2Z4
Intel Pentium III RB80526PZ667256 SL3VK
Mostek MK3880N Philippines
Mostek MK3880N-IRL
Motorola MC6809EP
NEC D8080AFC Japan
NEC D70108C-8 V20
SGS Z8400AB1 Z80A CPU, 4 with slightly different markings , 2 different Italy 2 unspecified
SGS Z8400BB1 Z80B CPU
Siemens SAB8086-C
ST Z8400BB1 Z80B CPU
Zilog 13 different Z80 CPUs

Particular favourites are the SAB8086-C, AMD 5x86-P75 with engraved print, Intel C8087 and C8087-3 and the 266 MMX.

LOL

Provide me with a good working scanner that I can use at home and I would do the scanning - that's the easy poart. Processing the scans is the hard part Smile

I think it's an Epson, but I've never actually checked what make or model it is. I'll really have to check it out for when I can afford to buy one, it's a good starting point (although I'm sure there are better for scanning the likes of K6-2 with engraved print, etc...)

If you could check that would be great, I'm considering getting a scanner and finally getting my collection online.

I'll try to remember next time I either do some scanning or talk to the guy with the scanner Smile

I have a beat up old HP scanjet 6200. Sometimes it goes to sleep and I have to power cycle the damn thing (no power button! ) to get it to "wake up". I think it uses a CCF and not LED.

Scanning the aluminium faces of cpus is a pain in the saddle area. I have to fiddle the contrast settings in the scanner software to get it to work. Photoshop image levels also work, but only if the scanned image is 'ok'.

oh.. watch your scanner bed. Mine is pitted and scratched from pins and aluminium heatsinks. - and cus I am kak handed.

I've found with some of the K6-2 that I ahd trouble scanning that turning them on the bed was the only way to get a better scan. Sometiems one angle reflects light better than others, so I'm going to retry all those which scanned badly, and I'll scan at a few angles, picking the best scan to process for the site.

A good example of how the quality of a scan affect what adjustments can be made in Photoshop is:

The top and bottom are the same colour, but the scan for the bottom was a lower quality so the colours don't look as sharp.

for engraved K6-2's I use a black expo dry erase marker, I cover the surface of the cpu, and then wipe it off, this leaves the marker onlyu in the engraved parts and makes for a nice scan.

That's a great idea! Thanks. I'll try that out on a couple of scrap processors first then if I have the right pen for it I'll do all my K6-2/3 engraved with it (they all need the bottom scanning so I'll redo the tops at the same time!)
