|
|
I have this
Duron 750Mhz CPU
on this
Compaq Presarion 5wv270
I can only ugrade to a CPU that fits in the socket A(462) and whose front side bus is at most 200Mhz correct?
Are there any other parameters that I should take into consideration?
I can pick from some Durons and Athlons and even some Athlon MPs or XPs, as long as the front side bus runs at 200MHz right?
Thanks. |

I did a looking-up for you...:
AMD @ 200FSB:
#1AMD Athlon 650mhz up to Athlon 1400mhz
#2AMD Duron 550mhz up to Duron 1300mhz
Mobiles:
#1 M Athlon 4 1000(1000mhz) up to 1600+(1400mhz)
#2 M XP Athlon Thoroughbred (35W) 1400+(1200 MHz) up to 1900+(1600 MHz)
#3 M XP Athlon Thoroughbred (25W) 1400+(1200mhz) up to 1800+(1500mhz)
#4 Athlon XP-M 1900+(1600 MHz)
#5 Duron 600mhz up to 1300mhz
..from here it's all I know!
Oh and yes, 200fsb is the boards max !

I would stick with a Duron or a less then 1400MHz Athlon.
Compaqs power supplies are utter crap and may not be able to handle the added pull of a A1400 _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!
