Hi,

I was thinking about buying the new AMD 64 X2 4800+ cpu now that the price has started to drop, but I was wondering how only a few stores are offering it at the %50 off rate. will they be out of stock and back orders could take up to months to recive your CPU? Can you please look at this link and tell me if you think I can get the CPU shiped soon or is there a catch that I am not seeing? Can you suggest a better place to buy this CPU?

AMD is dropping prices to compete with intels release of the conroe core (core 2 duo) chips july the 27th. Intel is also in the process of dropping prices on pentium 4's and pentium d's. I do not think this will cause a stock shortage because everyone is dropping prices at the same time. If I were you I would wait until the core 2 duo has hit the market though. At that point everyones prices will be equaly low and perhaps lower then you have seen. Intel is making the conroe cores very affordable and they are amazingly fast as well. The smart money is on letting this settle out. In a few weeks you should have a much better idea what is going on and what prices can be expected to be.
