I believe this is a Main Frame Processor of some description.
It Measures 106mm (4.2inches) square, is 25mm (1inch) thick and weighs in at 709 grams (1lb9oz)
It seems to have a Seam of Gold running through the middle of it that is about 4mm (1/4inch) thick.
The Top seems to be some sort of Marble or Ceramic. it is very Smooth.
Looks like it was made in Japan by Hitachi
thanks in advance and cheers all _________________ The Older they are the Better they are. |

I can't give you any specifics on that particular device, but generically those are called multi-chip modules (MCM). Typically they consist of several interconnected die mounted on a common substrate - usually ceramic.
