I need a program that can Rip DVD's and one that can convert video files so I can make them smaller for my PDA (they can be sperate programs). I would also prefer those that are free, but if they are known to actually work, I will consider paying. Laughing

To Rip (Back-up) a DVD, the best free program I know is DVD Shrink. That will re-encode a DVD to fit on a DVD-R, and will produce DVD format files. It dosen't encode to other formats, it is solely intended (officially) for backing up yoru collection of movies Smile To convert to other formats I can't help you.
