I don't see a press release on Intel's site, but it looks like Intel is launching the Core 2 Duo processors today:

As expected, AMD dropped prices on their processors:

These are old prices for AMD processors (Google cache).

The biggest price drops are for Athlon 64 and Athlon X2 64 line of processors:

Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (socket AM2 and 939): $558 -> $240
Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (socket AM2 and 939): $365 -> $187
Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (socket AM2 only): $303 -> $152
Athlon 64 3800+ (socket AM2 and 939): $290 -> $112
Athlon 64 3500+ (socket AM2 and 939): $189 -> $91
