|
|
Hello all,
I have a question, and I think this would be the best site for me to get the correct answer. I have a Shuttle AK35GTR motherboard, and I want to get the most that I can out of it.
I want to know if I can upgrade it to an Athlon XP 3200+ 400FSB. According to Shuttle the motherboard can be upgraded to an AthlonXP 3000+ 300FSB.
How much difference is there between the two processors? Can I put the 3200+ in and do some overclocking to make up for the 100FSB difference?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance,
Mario |

...funny....
I'm getting that you can only go as high as 200/266 FSB.
Hence the highest available chip for you would be the:
Athlon XP-M 3000+(mobile)
or
Athlon 2800+ (AXDA2800DKV4C)(desktop)

...odd....
From what I get out of Bios revision AK35S20G (see below) I can upgrade to an Athlon XP 3000+. Please note that it states nothing about the XP-M 3000+. I found a 3000+ at Zipzoomfly and the FSB is 300. Am I missing something?
Also note that the default FSB in the bios is 133, and I can raise it in increments of 1MHz to 200 FSB; hence my question can I put in an Athlon XP with a higher FSB and raise the FSB higher than 133 in the Bios?

...on top you only put --> AK35GTR
That leaves alot of different versions to find
But ya,, the 133fsb is actually @ x2 for 266fsb max.
The reason why you see the 3000+ is that it is a moblie chip.
-->Athlon XP-M 3000+ 2200 MHz /512 KiB /266fsb MT/s /16.5x(multiplier) / 1.65 2003 AXMA3000FKT4C
Hence you cannot put your "FSB" any higher then 266.according to your motherboard statistics, unless I missed something .
the Highest CPU found @ 266 is the indeed the mobile one.

My apologies, I forgot to thank you for your previous post.
If you are referring to the Bios revision, I have the latest one, AK35S20L. I should have included it in my initial post.
Thanks again,

I agree with JD - even though your board can be overclocked to 200 MHz FSB, it officially supports only 200 and 266 MHz FSB processors, which means that mobile Athlon XP-M with Thorton core is the fastest processor you can use in the board.
