It is not a good idea to post links to current auctions. Smile Other people may be watching or become interested. Also, the final price may be much higher. Ebay prices are volatile, yet some people persist in attempting to track the pricing... Confused One day a chip will sell for $100, then next you can get one for $5. Why dont you see if there are any scrap/junkyard dealers in your area?Look in your local newspaper... carboot sales/whatever/yard sales ...

Before you start buying up chips without knowing much about them you should spend some time in the forum here and in the online museum at www.cpuphotolibrary.com You might also check out grandpa's site at cpu-museum.de (he has some good comentary posted on his chips.) If you just start buying stuff without knowing ballpark what it is worth you will regret it later when you find that your collection is full of common stuff you paid a lot of money for. The for sale section of this site may help you gauge value. Look at what people post that sells. If it sells is was worth that much if it doesn't it was probably not worth it. You also might choose a discipline based on what chips you like. Most collectors do not have 3000 chip collections. Many specialize on certain classes or brands.

JAC is correct about finding local chip sources as well. Our hobby thrives on the trading of chips and selling of chips that we obtained locally. Almost all of the prolific collectors on this site have local sources of chips in addition to ebay. I frequent two scrapyards myself and I used to go to several pc shops untill I cleaned them out.

Good luck out there.

I'd go for the lot with 80486 and Pentium chips. Don't bid too much - these processors are not worth more than $2 per chip.

Have you given any thoughts to what type or kind of chips you want to collect?
Some people collect everything, others Intel only, etc. Smile
