I tried searching the net to see if I coudl find the answer, but I couldn't find anything definite. I have an old A7M266-D dual processor mobo. It currently has 2 AMD Athlon MP 1600+ on it. I was curious if I could throw in one or two faster semprons to boost the cpu speed? I checked asus website and they don't list any recent changes to the manual or what it supports. the manual states it supports dual AMD Athlon MP, Duron MP 1.6ghz and higher. The overview specs on asus says: Supports 2 Athlon MP processors, or 1 Athlon MP/Athlon XP/Athlon/Duron socket A processor.
I guess my goal is to get the most speed I can out of this board with preferrably dual processor set up, but am also curious how fast it could go with 1 processor. If anyone could help me out with understanding the compatibilty issues with socket A and the other stuff I requested I would greatly appreciate it. |
