I just acquired a remarked SY6502A. The top has been hand painted black, then the chip identification lettering printed over the top. You can see the brush strokes in the paint. It is hard to see in the image, but it is there. This makes the second remarked chip in my collection. Carefully check your ICs, maybe you have some too!

Thanks Norm

I already had one remarked chip, and by coincidence it's also Synertek 6502A Smile

6502A without "SY" prefix is probably their older naming convention. I checked all of the remaining 6502 processors in my collection and didn't find anything.

It may be that Synertek tested some of their lower speed chips (like 1 MHz 6502) and if they run on higher speed they just remarked them. So these may be "overclocked" chips Smile
