Hello,
Sorry if this post doesn't belong here, I'm new.

I'm looking to upgrade my processor (currently an athlon 2800 running only at 1.3 GHz) but realized I'm constrained by the Socket A/462. My mobo is nvidia-nforce2 ultra 400. I read on the AMD message board that the 2800 can go up to 2GHz but the process of changing the bios and FSB looked too complicated for me haha.

Thanks!!

Moved to appropriate section.

What is your board ?

Why upgrade ? You are underclocking your cpu, so put it at his rated frequency, then it will be like a big upgrade ...

And if you think changing fsb is too much complicated, then changing cpu will be the same...

Here's my diagnostic info.
Processor a
1.33 gigahertz AMD Athlon
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Board: nVidia-nForce2
Bus Clock: 166 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 11/28/2003

I now realize attempting to overclock isn't as daunting as I thought.

I know the multiplier12.5 x FSB166MHz = 2.075GHz, so why is it only running at 1.33?

I was able to up the voltage of the vcore to 1.8 and the FSB to 200MHz, but the system must be overheating or something because it won't load windows.

I wasn't able to find the Multiplier info. in the BIOS.

I've read more information and it seems people with ASUS motherboards have less difficulty doing this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks.
