Agree with you fully. A sticky in sale forums would be very nice. Perhaps with photos of good and bad packing.

I also got one two weeks ago exactly as described. All pins on one side badly damaged:-(

I always ship DIPs in those originally tubes that I cut in pieces and put antistatic foam on both ends.
Only chips that don't fit in those tubes I send in boxes - with the pins in antistatic foam and the same above. This makes the package thicker and more expensive but I never had complaints about bad packagings.
... just about shipping cost;-)
