You make a good point, but when you think about it... if a person is going to spend time to answer a question, you would think they would take a minute to register first? Registration is free. It shows that the person was willing to make an effort to be a part of this virtual community (although like I said above, 1 minute to register isn't that much of a effort, but none the less, it is something). |
Moreover, how many "guest" answers to our questions ? None or almost...
Maybe only the "CPU upgrades, overclocking and troubleshooting" section could be open to guests but for others, I think it is better to allow them to registered users. _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !

I don't like this idea. We shouldn't limit people's access to the forum, unless it's really necessary. I never liked forums where forum owners force visitors to sign-up before posting anything. Even if it takes just one minute to sign-up, why would I need to give away my personal information like e-mail address, and waste my time when I don't know if this is going to help me to solve my problem? If visitors like the forum they will eventually sign-up. If they don't like it or if they are not interested in reading it anymore then, well, so be it. So, in my opinion, it'd be nice to keep the forum as open as possible, and we shouldn't limit guest's access to discussion forums.
