Since the US Dollar exchange rate is still pretty good here in Germany I'm planning to buy some items on US eBay. Some sellers do not want to ship to Germany, so I'm asking one of you to be my US shipping address. I'll just bid for items I can use PayPal, so you don't have to care for payment or bidding, you just have to collect these items for me and send a packet every some weeks. You should have a PayPal account to receive shipping costs from me. _________________ ..::morkork::..

Yes, and Morkork, there are other difficulties too. There are US-American ebayer, that do not accept payment from other countries (even not with paypal!). I have such a case at the moment... I bid on a nice item, but the seller has no opportunity for me to pay. And I wont join a new payment service just for one auction I don't know the reasons... Some of them don't accept cash and all of them have mysterious consideration of time you have to pay in. Be warned! Ebay.com is definately another market place then ebay.de. I would summarize it with, it's more rough... _________________ Frank. |

Hi,
I bid on US auctions regularly and have little or no problems. I always make sure the person accepts PayPal and that's it.

Hehe... yes, I thought so, Simmayor. But accepting paypal does not mean, that the person accepts foreighn payments! I also didn'n know that before. Then the seller said I have to pay with Western Union. But I won't do this. There is absolutely no service for the buyer?!
Most of the problems with ebay user I have are related with ebay.com users.
Btw: Bidding on an auction does not mean winning them... If I only bid, I will also have no problem _________________ Frank. |

Hi Frassl,
Well ok maybe that is it, i do not win as many auctions as you!
But then, i don't have the problems....
Does it happen often?
Just like i said, or rather a little revised : with the auctions i won i had no problems!

Same here. I had some auctions I did not bid on because the seller excluded foreign or credit card payment via Paypal. When I was in doubt, I tried to clear things up by email before the auction ended. That way, I did not experience any problems yet.
In general I also agree with frassl that you find more "aggressive"/demanding sellers on ebay.com than you are accustomed to over here...
Good luck!

Often they wont except paypal from foriegn accounts because paypal charges 4.5% to do international.
Perhaps if you offered the extra 4.5% they would? _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

It's too late. I bid with a universal one-way account, so the things following are ok I have an extra account for "dangerous" auctions _________________ Frank. |

Here is a very typical example what I mean...
I wrote:
"Hello xxxxx,
it seems to me, that you trust Gennadiy Shvets. I know him and we
often do trans-continental trades. Thus I could pay the chips, I won
with Paypal and you send them directly to him. He will forward them to
me.
I think this is a acceptable plan...
Frank"
The answer is:
"DEAL WITH YOU IS DEAD AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED"
(I didn't cut anything. This is all I received!)
Now I ask you: Is this a normal reaction? I don't think so. _________________ Frank. |

Goodness You'd think you had mad cow disease or something.
Well if any of you international guys wants me to even BID on an auction for you that is fine.
Whatever it takes to help. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

That's where the problem is... Even if I bought a few times from a seller doesn't mean he trusts me. Sometimes he may not even remember my name after that
