Hi. I need help with bios settings. I am getting wrong cpu speed displayed. My pc shows my amd 2600+ as a 2000+ at 1536mhz! I would like to know the right bios settings for my hardware, here it is:
512 mb DDR333(2700)
AMD 2600+ 512 L2 cache fsb 333mhz ( I thinks it a Barton)

what should my bios settings be. Thanks

If your processor is Athlon XP 2600+ (Barton) with 333 MHz FSB then the right BIOS setting is 166 MHz bus * 11.5. For some reason your processor is running at 133 MHz bus * 11.5. Please check if your motherboard supports 333 MHz FSB, and if it does see if you can increase bus speed from 133 to 166 MHz.

Hi can you tell me if its still possible to run a Barton core socket A in a montherboard that doesnt support anything more than 133fsb?

I realise that the processor will run at a lower speed but its my only option for a cheap upgrade for some speed.

I have just bought a 2600+ Barton only because it has a 512k l2 cache.

From what i have experienced the little L2 mem boost makes quite a difference.

Thanks

It may work if your motherboard supports Thoroughbred Athlon XPs. It probably won't work if your motherboard doesn't support Athlon XP processors at all.

Thanks for the reply,

Ive received the processor and it seems to work okay,

At first the pc would not boot but after setting the multipliers to Auto
it booted, only thing is it comes up on the boot screen as unknown processor but it runs at the lower speed. so ive upped the FSB to 155 and the barton cpu i got has 11.5. I tried to fry the L jumpers on the ECU but it still wont change from 11.5 Question

BTW its alot fater with this ECU Very Happy
