Hey everyone....I have a 2 year old 17" Flat LCD Monitor BenQ. It powers-up but nothing comes up on the screen...What a waste of a LCD....I've opened up the lcd to check everything, but couldn't see anything wrong. Is there a way to fix this? Is it worth it?

Thanx.

Look for a missing pin on the connecting cable. A classic noob error when some ham-fisted monkey has tried to force the connector in.. bent a pin, then bent it back too far and broken it.

Also look for damage to the cable itself. Crush or pinch damage is not always apparent if the outer insulation is not punctured.

If it has DVI inputs try that?

...humm...interesting...
Well , I'm using a brand new 6ft M/M Hi Density VGA/SVGA Switchbox cable from StarTech. Should work...As far as the DVI, there are none available on this model. I did try it on my other pc's as well, and still nothing...Such a piss-off to see a waste of a monitor like that and in such good shape !

More Info on Monitor---> BenQ FP731

EDIT----------> I never did check to see if the "female connector" on the monitor itself might have a loose pin...I'll check in a bit...

Sooooo Frustrating !

Is the 'monitor in' socket in good shape on the back of the monitor? - any missing pins etc..
Also test the cable on another monitor just to be sure.

I have the exact same problem - a BenQ FP731 17" monitor that quit working. The green power light comes on but nothing else - no BenQ logo on power up. Mine should still be under warrenty so I am following up on that today.

I wonder if there is a powerup defect that takes 2 years to surface.

Hi JD. I just noticed on your original post that you say it's 2 years old. Benq offer a 3 year warranty worldwide. Why not just get it replaced. BenQ will collect the monitor from you and replace it on the same day.

hmmmm..............I'll have to check with that, cause I was sure the guy that owned it said the warranty expired.

Oh and I guess I forgot to mention, it wasn't mine before, so I don't have the receipt Very Happy Oppps ! I gather I'll need that to get a refund anyways? So I guess it's back to searching for bulbs ?.....

If thats the information you are going on mate, he's more than likely wrong. With TFT's you get a manufacturers warranty as well as the normal distribution warranty. You won't need a receipt for it either.

Get on the BenQ site, find their warranty support centre phone number and all they will ask from you is the serial number on the back. If yhey ask you were you bought it from, just say a shop round the corner.
