im attempting to upgrade my cpu, but i have a couple of questions that i hope someone can help me with, firstly ive just run the CPU-Z programme and it say's my motherboard has KT233/333 chip set does that mean i can use a cpu with a 333fsb, if not will a 333fsb stepdown in a 266fsb motherboard, my motherboard manual states that it has a KT266A chipset so im a little confused, why is the CPU-Z programme saying the chip set is both 266 and 333. also ive downloaded the bios upgrade for my motherboard but do i install the bios upgrade then fit the cpu or do i fit the cpu then install the bios upgrade.
as you can tell my knowledge of these matter in NIL, so please be gentle with me,lol
many thanks in advance

i already know the make and model number of my mother board, i have the manual and it say's the mother has a VIA KT 266 chipset, 133ddr.
but i have theCPU-Z application and that say my motherboard has a VIA KT266/333 chip set, wha twaould like to is what is correct the manual or the CPU-Z application?.
secondly would processor that has a 333fsb step down in a motherboard with a 266fsb, and ther work fine.
i hope ive explained things a little better this time |

You have VIA KT266 chipset in 100%. I'm not sure that is A version - KT266A which was very similar to KT333 and that is propably why CPU-Z show you KT266/333. Download Everest Home :

This program will tell you true.
