AMD XP2400 CPU Shows up as an XP 1800 when installed Help!!!

I recently installed an AMD XP 2400 CPU in my K7S5A motherboard. When I boot the compute up, it says the CPU is an 1800. Is there some type of a setting I have to change for the computer to recognize it properly? Any help would be appreciated.

I also have a K7S5A mobo here which is running a Athlon XP 2700+ but it recognizes it as a Duron (weird huh?, i know)

anyway, check your bios and set the memory frequency to be 133 MHz, also FSB frequency of the CPU should be set to 133 MHz. When you install a new processor, the bios resets the values every time so you have to adjust them

BTW. That is ECS company. K7S5A was very popular and sold in huge quantities but quality was very very poor.

I had K7S5A some years ago for very short time. Since that I will never buy ECS board again.

EDITED : Please make sure that in BIOS you have enabled 133/133 speed.

Agree ECS was always cheapest and that is why ASUS was very angry and introduce Asrock as separated low cost company.

ECS Elitegroup means group of many manufacturers like PCChips, Mercury and others which I don't remember. Beware from this stuff if your data in computer is more valuable than difference in price between better motherboards from companies like Gigabyte, Asus, Epox, Abit.

well, I never had any problems here with ECS mobos, used them for years now and none of them has failed once, though as I said their performance/OC features are bad compared to other mobo manufacturers

How would I" go about making these bios changes and any other changes I would need to make to correct this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
