Hi will my motherboard that runs on AMD K7 family run on an AMD thunderbird core, want to upgrade to a 1Ghz. and I have just purchased one.

Yep, at this link amd give it as compatible with all K7 1000 versions.

Just check to have the right heatsink on it.
