hi all, Im having a problem understanding this, I have a gigabyte 975x mainboard and I just checked there site, they say that this mainboard doesn't support core 2 processors while Intel mainboards that have the 975x chip support all of them! Rolling Eyes , so will there be any harm if I buy a core 2 extreme processor with my gigabyte mainboard or not?

maybe BIOS doesn't support microcode of new C2D processors. Gigabyte never lying it is one of best companies. Let us know what exactly model you have ... 975 is only chipset name.

Yes Core 2 Duo will not work on this motherboard. Very strange but if I was you I would go to computer service and ask to test C2D on your motherboard if really not support.

This board doesnt support the Core 2 Duo because its voltage regulators do not meet intels specs for the CPU.

It very well may work however.
Give it a try.
