the chip is made by the Shanghai semiconduct 5th factory (i am not sure what its english name is , i just translate it from chinese directly )
I might be wrong but
From the chinese data i found by google (and the last picture you quoted) ,
i think 5G is not the manufacturer name
it is just prefix ( like Simen produce SABxxxx and Sony produce CXxxx )
Shanghai 16th factory ,Shantung 4th factory and some other chinese semiconduct factory also produce chip with 5G prefix
i think it is better to classify them like the USSR chip (maybe a PRC category?)

Ok, yes a PRC category sounds like a good idea!

I have a MPRC PKUNITY863-1 in a category called "MPRC" would it be OK to rename it to "PRC" and put the PKUNITY and the 8080 there? Or are MPRC a company?

MPRC is a company's name.

i think it would be better have its category

i propose a PRC(-clone) category for the 5G8080
because
when 5G8080 is produced , the China is just like the USSR , every factory is owned by the governemt. so there are a lot of factory but no company , just because the government (PRC)is the company .

However the MPRC is a modern company like intel or lenovo. it deserve a separate category even only a few tye chips is made

Thanks for the info! Made a PRC clones category.

If anyone has chips that would give the now lonely 8080 some company just upload or PM me!

Edit: Perhaps someone (lither?) active on the chinese cpu board at yjfy.com could ask for pics of chinese made clones?
