|
|
The cpu in this laptop is a p4, 2.4, 533mhz, 478(intel sl6rz).
It's a desktop cpu.
It's a 845 chipset on a Toshiba motherboard (p000369080).
It runs fine, no overheating probs...none, nada.
Can anyone help me figure out what I could upgrade the cpu to?
I have a dell smartstep 250n also running a desktop p4, 2.4 and it overheats constantly so I'd love to upgrade there as well.

SHEESH!
So I went out and bought a mobile p4 2.8 533.
The computer started right up as if nothing had happened...but it is only running the 2.8 at 1.6 ghz.
that's fine, it was only a test...I'm hoping I can sub this mobile chip into the Dell smartstep 250 I've got to help eliminate the fact it now overheats with the desktop p4 2.4 it's got...I hope this chip will run cooler.
By the way, as a trial I turned my computer on without the heatsink, and this cpu gets really hot REALLY fast...holy smoly!
Since this Toshiba currently does not overheat, I'll just put the original processor back in. |

Don't you think it is better to answer nothing than to answer something wrong ?
Most of us think so, and doesn't know all existing models of motherboards, especially laptop one which are custom made. _________________ Register on x86-guide.net to manage and share your collection on-line !

I didn't even think of looking for a specific Toshiba support forum, maybe I'll look for a dell one too.
thanks for the idea.
and yes, by the way I would prefer no answer over a wrong answer...but I thought if there was an answer that I'd find it here among all you chip collectors, etc. |
