Is this a AMD 80286-16 ES?

It is produced on week 11 1991 according to the datecode. I searched many website that showed AMD 80286 ES with the wording "ENG. SAMPLE". I also compare this one with other AMD 286. It has different (M) & (c).

Any idea?

Thanks,

Billy

No, i dont think it is an ES simpley because of the following two reasons:
1) AMD always print their product number like this which composed of miscellanous characters. so the "ES" probaly is only on coincidence.
2) As for ES, they are most likely to be used in an Debug enviroment or usage. This board is obviously a batch product.

Hi Hugo929,

Good points and thanks for your sharing.

I'm wondering why AMD ES is produced in 1991. It should be produced before 1987 (the official launch of AMD 286 16Mhz). But I DO hope it's an ES because it's mine. Embarassed

I don't think it is ES too.
For the same reasons as hugo929

oh, i hope it's ES too!! hah.
The "9106" on the HeadLand chip probaly also means the year 1991. so it is most likely another evidence to prove it is not an ES:(

Probably it's not an ES. I have two AMD 80286 chips with "TS", I doubt they are thermal samples Smile
