Hi all, I am new to this and I have been through the forum looking for answers to the following questions...but as you have guessed I can't find what I am looking for.

I have a acer 1801 Aspire Laptop which has a P4 2.93GHZ, 533/LGA775.

The laptop run's normally with the CPU fan going all the time, and I would like to upgrade this CPU to something newer and hopefully something that will run cooler then the P4 i have at present.

As I have said I am new to this forum but I do hope someone can help me.

Many thanks for your help...I hope.

If you want anything cooler, you're going to have to drop the speed down a notch. Trey running your current P4 at a 400MHz bus only, that should help quite a bit with your heat problem.

Laptops aren't easy to upgrade because the cpus come with a cooler that works for the model it has in.

With a desktop you have almost no problem to stick anything.

You better have to contact Acer and see what they say about tje motherboard cpu compatibility.

Putting the fsb down to 400 mhz will make it run cooler, not cold, just cooler Wink
