Unused Intel chip dies. What are they?

Got these two chip dies that i was told to be unused 486 and 386 chip dies. Anyone got a clue on a closer match than that? Can you tell if they are DX or SX and even speed?

The bottom one looks used, it looks like there are some bonding wires still attached.

As for what it is I dont know you will ever be sure. There are many 486, well over 100!, so how can you tell without seeing the dies from them all? - I expect the variation between them many not be visible to the eye?

The first one looks like 80486DX:

He he, that is my uncleaned scanner you see there Laughing Will use some windows cleaner tonight.

Right, there are to many varinants, and as you say some not even visible.
