| i have a asus A7V8X with a 1800+ cpu. i want to put a 2800+ do i have to set any thing up when i reboot |

Not all versions of A7V8X support this processor, so make sure that your board supports it.

at first you should see that topic at 1st place in this forum : http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5573
If you have PCB version (motherboard revise) 1.04 and sticker "333 MHz" on south bridge then you can use Athlon XP 3000+(333 MHZ FSB)(Model 10)(Barton)
Warning
If you plan to use any Sempron you must have all thing mentioned above + updated BIOS to latest version BEFORE mounting new CPU in socket.

Yes it will be much faster. Question is do you need that change ? Athlon XP 1800+ isn't slow CPU. I always prefer upgrade to more RAM memory than CPU upgrade. _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |
