Hello.

I'm very newbie in all of this. My old pc motherboard asrock K7VM2 R3.0 died yesterday http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=K7VM2%20R3.0&s

I try went to few shop and try to find the same model but bcoz its an old model they aint got any

My question is, if I'm going to replace my old mobo with new one what brand and model would you recommend. My goal is just to replace the motherboard if possible.

Help and advice appreciated. thx

replace with same model will be best but if you have Windows XP with OEM licence that will be not actual - system will ask for activation again.

Motherboards which we recommend are from good brands like : ASUS, Gigabyte, Epox, ABIT and DFI.

thx for the reply marcin. I'm still new with this but eager to DIY.

My Windows XP license is not OEM.

So I guess looking for socket A motherboard is the answer.

BTW, if I change to different brand do I need to replace certain component? Or I just swap it

If you're planning to use your old processor and memory make sure that new motehrboard supports them. Like Marcin said, ASUS, Gigabyte and Epox are good brands. I had bad experience with Abit so I can't recommend it. I've never had any exprience with DFI.
