Hello,

I am new to the board and would like to introduce myself. Definitely a newbie, but can tell from perusing this board that there are many very knowledgeable people here. I hope I can not only learn but impart some knowledge as well.

Anyway, I got both the mobo and cpu on a smokin deal, but I'm very much a rookie at putting together a PC. Let me first start by saying Jetway does not state in their manual that their board support Sempron CPU's. The mobo actually has a 100/133 FSB and the Sempron 2800+ is FSB 166. However, beyond that it is 462, A. So bottomline, will this cpu fire up on this motherboard. Can I get a post?

I've been to the AMD website and I would say that most believe it will work with the caveat that the CPU will run at a lower rate (12 X 133) - 1.6mhz rather that its advertised speed of (12 x 166) - 1.9 mhz.

honestly, i could care less. i got them both practically for free and just need to know that they will play well together. thoughts?

thanks

Hello,

In case anyone is wondering, I just tested this and it does work. This leads me to believe that even though most motherboard companies won't list every single supported cpu in their manuals, I do believe that unsupported CPU's with the same socket type will work.
