|

Hi guys. I need a little help here, since I could not find anything similar on google.
I have an Asus A7N8X-X motherboard, with Athlon Duron 1400 MHz. Based on recomendations, like those from CPU World, I bought an Athlon XP 3200 (AXDA3200DKV4E). I also changed the CPU cooler for a Zalman 80mm.
The problem is that when I put the XP 3200 on, the computer does not boot (blank screen, not even get to the bios). I change it back to Duron and it works fine. My BIOS version is 1010.
Any ideas?
I have not yet tested the XP 3200 on another computer.
Thanks a lot! |

seems that the athlon is broken or you need a BIOS update..i had the same with a Sempron 2800+ it was recognized as a Athlon MP but after the update it worked fine |

Since my bios says it has the lastest version, 1010, I have discarded this procedure. I know that for Sempron, you need the 1010 version.
But I will update it anyway and let you know.
Thanks for the reply. |

I have to agree with Soeren and Mixuer...
Sounds like a DEAD CPU...
I have had the same type of problem...with my FIRST 462/Duron combo.
Blank screen...no POST BIOS...and, oddly enough, my harddrive and even the USB port starting up, but, to no avail.

I have send both CPU and motherboard for repair and you were all right: the CPU was dead.
Physical damage on the core, actually. I am getting the replacement.
Thank you all for the help,
