Finally got a good deal on a server-
4x PIII-Xeon 550/100/2M
6GB PC100-ECC REG (6x1GB config)
4x18.6GB SCSI in RAID 5

Mmmmmmm time for some number crunchin!!!

I have an UPGRADE on the way too!!
For $105 I got..... 8x 900/100/2M Very Happy And all the VRMs I need! My current config already has the option stuff, so it was prepared for any upgrade.

Guess how much?? $125+$105+A $200 laptop Very Happy
I cant wait to take it someplace and use somebody else's electricity!
Right now I am doing a Memtest86 and it's taking FOREVER! Razz

On a side note, anybody know why Windows Server 2003 Enterprise only reports 3.5GB RAM? I know that's a full bank, Memtest86 told me so, but what happen to the other half? Does the OS support 1TB? Razz

I'll take some under-the-hood shots when I get home.

I cant wait for the Memtest to finish, and then to start crunching some numbersssssssss... Does CPU-World have any folding@home or seti@home groups?

Pic time!!
The upgrade came in the mail today, and I got more than I expected- I made sure and left very generous feedback for the seller.

I paid $100 shipped for the 8x900MHz 2M processors, an Intel Gigabit ethernet adaptor, a high-quality UW320 SCSI adaptor with 128MB RAM, and spare processor-area boards and modules, AND 4GB of PC133 ECC SDRAM Very Happy

Speaking of which, would a 512MB PC133 ECC "Customer Sample" be worth selling?

New? Oh, this one would be a pretty penny.
Enterprise class, and top-of-the-line right now Very Happy

By my specs, and the only on-release day pricing I could find (Japan).... With all the upgrades this one has......

My total came to 14,272,000 Yen.... $117,000 US!!!

The motherboard has a Serverworks chipset- Partially the reason these were a bit pricey- When the Intel 4/8-processor board was released, there was a significant bug which cropped up- The Compaq Proliant was unaffected, due to it's non-Intel chipset!
