I opened my Itaniums (http://www.alphatek.info/Collection/index.php?folder=/07_Intel/22_Itanium/) without this specific tool (noticed the little pin in the center?). Simply break the little pin (it's very easy) and then you can use a standard flat screwdriver to open it.
When you are going to remove the heatpipe you will feel a great resistance: it's normal...it's the solid thermal pad on the cache chips/core. |
