Hello everyone. I have a Gigabyte GA-8S661FXM motherboard still with a 2.53 533FSB P4. I want to upgrade the cpu, spending around £50 just to keep me going for another year or two. I ended up with 2 possible processors.

An Intel P4 3.0Ghz Prescott 800FSB and an Intel P4 3.4Ghz Northwood 800FSB. The first one has architectural advantages as well as more cache but the second one has a bit more power.

I use the pc for gaming mostly, and use an ATI Radeon 9800 128SE, which i will probably upgrade in the near future aswell.

So what is the best processor out of the two for me? Thank you!

Northwood is better for gaming, 400 mhz more is a little boost.

If you know how to, get the prescott and overclock it to 3400. Otherwise leave it.
