I'v seen on the internet a wire guide to give more vcore voltage on Socket A Barton CPU's, my question are:
1. Dose this trick work on all Socket A motherboards? (my mobo is a EPoX EP-8KMM3I)
2. Could it burn my CPU or mobo if done incorectly?
3. Any links fore photos any guides on how to do it

THANKS

OK I;v done it, and now it gives 1.84V from 1.58V and now I could push my AMD Athlon XP 2200+ to 2300MHz (333MHz FSB)
I only have a small problem if I could call il a problem I connected the wires in the socket to give the CPU 1.75V not 1.84V what could be the problem?
Is 1.84V safe for Air cooling?

THANKS

do you have temp sensor on board ? you can see temp. in BIOS or by software like speedfan, motherboard monitor or Everest Ultimate.

All voltages are safe with good cooling.

I remember mine barton 2500+ overclocked to 2700 MHz. I used 1.9V on GiGabyte 3D Rocket cooler. All was OK.

My CPU temp in idle is 32C and in load over 50C (tested in load with Prime 95 but I stoped the program when the CPU temp went over 52C because I'm afraid to not harm the CPU), but now I have another strange problem: I have 2 memory slots filed with 2 512MB sticks but when the 2 slots are filled if I restarts the PC it strats to beep (some long beeps) and I need to shut down the PC from the button and start it back again, then it works, but I don't know what could be the problem, any help on soting the problem out?

THANK YOU

You have propably motherboard with dual channel. Dual channel works with two, three or four memory sticks mounted. Overcloking result (in MHz) is always worse in dual channel than single channel. As you can see quality of memory modules is very important thing. But not only memory ... to have best result you must have good motherboard ( with many OC options in BIOS), PSU, and of course CPU.

To fix your last problem you must downclock FSB or try put memories in single channel or increase voltage on RAM to 2.9V and +0,1V on AGP or buy better components (not prefer because of spend cash and never sure of fix this problem).

PS. Temperature under 60C is good in prime95 torture test.

Could it be the PSU , I have a Premier 380W ATX PSU, here is what I have in my PC:

1.AMD Athlon XP 2200+ @2.3GHz (SiSoft Sandra says CPU core power 94W)
2.1GB DDR400 Elixir (that is printed on the Silicon chips) CPU-Z says Nania technology
3. 2x 160GB HDD's
4.a GeForce FX5200 card
5. 2x optical drives
6. 3xfans (one 40mm on the chipset, one 90mm on the rear of the case, and one 80mm in front + the CPU fan a BIG 80mm one
7. a 5.1 PCI sound card
If the PSU is the problem what PCU should I buy I mean with what wattage?

Hmmm I think wattage of your PSU is enough. Don't know how it is with quality.

Anyway if you need PSU cheap and very good ? FSP Fortron FORTRON FSP400-60PFN is answer. Cost only about 20 USD (polish price).

I read reviews where it was tested under 420W burden and fully stable. I use it.

If I was you I would keep your PSU at this moment and start thinking about change RAM. Don't think wrong about me but Elixirs are one of worst memories in world. Especially for OC. RAM is your biggest problem in getting good OC result.

I like topic about PSU. My friend compared Fortron 250W to Codegen 400W. Hardware test was P4 3,2 GHz, PCI-E Radeon model, 1 GB RAM DDR, 2 x HDD 2 x DVDRW + small OC. 100% stable wirth Fortron, many resets with Codegen Very Happy

blue screens are with bad RAM sticks when they have damaged cells. This is other king of problem with RAM. You overclocking - you force not standard, higher values of speed on them. They are poor quality and not work stable on higher values.

Check prices of same capacity modules between Elixir and Corsair XMS or Kingston HyperX. High end memory modules are one of most important part of best OC result.

Best way is borrow good brand modules from friend and test in PC by own.

Overclocking is huge topic. I recommend you to read reference on big hardware forums to learn basics because this topic will never end Very Happy

Building machine to OC need spended much money on new RAM, motherboard and maybe PSU. It is worth it ? You must decide by own.

Epox EP-8KMM3I based on VIA KM400+. This chipset wasn't greatest to overclock. I recommend you to adjust max stabile value on PC and leave it.
