My Asrock K7V4M only supports up to 333MHz. I am upgrading from a 2400+ 266FSB to either a 3000+ 333FSB of the 3200+ 400FSB underclocked to 333FSB. Would i be able to overclock the 3200+ CPU MHz much given the slower FSB? Would i be best off to go with the 3000+ 333FSB i have heard that they are good? Thanks, Rob.

All Athlon XP processors are locked. If you want to overclock the 3200+ you'll need to unlock it. Even then, it's not guaranteed that you'll be able to overclock the CPU to get the same performance from overclocked chip as you would get from Athlon XP 3200+ with 400 MHz FSB. This is because the 3200+ is already running close to its maximum frequency.

By the way, there is Athlon XP 3200+ with 333 MHz FSB, but those are more rare and more expensive than 400 MHz FSB processors.

Thanks, for the advice. I have since purchased the Athlon xp 3000+, with the 333MHz FSB just to be safe. I figure performance will be quite similar. I'm not too sure about the all Athlons being locked comment, i overclock my 2400+ regularly in winter just by manually changing the multiplier on the mobo.
