Found a HEAVY IBM AS/400 9404 in the basement in our office complex at the electronic scrap bin. Teared it apart and took what could contain a cpu. (A bunch of cards in slots in the back)

These below are what i got but i i have the feeling i missed the actual CPU. Or?

The card with the ST:s identifies as "F10 Processor Card" if i Google the part number but they dont feel like cpu:s, do they?

Found pics of what seem the exact same machine.

Snatched all cards in the slots...

SC414170R16 is either 68020 or 68030 CPU.

I need to get my "Motorola SC Numbering" page online. Not sure whether I have this one on the page yet as I don't have the info with me, but I'm copying this page to my pen drive so I'll remember to check...

I do however agree with Genna - it is for sure a 680x0 CPU. And if the photo shows the colour right, quite a pretty one at that Smile

Personally, I would have kept the system intact (unless of course you already have one...). I'm always on the lookout for complete, non-x86 systems (and x86 systems that I don't currently have for testing with, of course).

Thanks for the info both. Its a keeper then!

Sure, i to would love to keep complete systems, but you have to store them somewhere. If you live in a flat there is a very limited number of systems to save.

And i have to get a truck and forklift to get it out. It weighs about 50 kgs (~110 lbs)

Edit: Googled on the physical specs and it is actually 91 kg or 200 lbs.

Hey,
in my AS/400 9401-P01 'portable' (not really) I found
also two huge PQFP-chips with glued heatsinks.
After pulling them I saw two ST`s with
this P/Ns: 16G7058 and 16G6790. I have no
idea which one of them might be the CPU
but very probably one of them contains the MMU
because the system memory is on the same board.
Any other CPUs that can be found in AS/400-systems
are allocated to other tasks, I also found a MC68E020
and a N80286 on the system board.
Second picture shows a AS/400 9404-D10 processor-card.
