| Does anyone in here know where I can purchase these at a *reasonable* price? All the electronics catalogues I've seen offer them for about $100. They have to be kidding. |

Are you looking for sockets that would allow you to test a QFP chip on an existing motherboard without soldering? ie for either an upgrade type socket for QFP motherboards (like the Cx486SRx...) or an adapter to test QFP chips on a PGA motherboard?
If so, I would be keen to hear if you find anything - I am looking for the same for various platforms, to allow testing of a wider range of chips

Some of my 386SX motherboards have pads to solder on a qfp socket. I guess it would be a "test socket". I don't really need it for testing, but I tend to swap CPUs a fair bit, and it sure beats having to desolder.
I am thinking perhaps I might have to steal some of these sockets off existing products, but so far I haven't found a good source. I'll let you know if I find anything...I've been looking for a while. |
