We have two CPUs for socket AM2:
AMD Opteron 1220 2800 Mhz and AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2800 MHz. I see only two diffrences :
1) Opteron have unlocked multiplier to lower values
2) Opteron can work in multi CPUs system
Any others ? I plan to purchase new CPU, motherboard and RAM to ours company printer-PC. Working on X2 3800+ S939 with nForce 6100 and 2 GB RAM is very not comfortable with very high resolution maps i.e. in Corel Draw. My Opteron do operations 20 times faster so I don't know if we must really spend more cash than on X2 5600+ _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

I don't think there is any real difference between dual-core single-processor Opterons and dual-core Athlon 64 X2. There is a difference for single-core Opterons, but dual-core Opterons in my opinion are almost the same as Athlon 64 X2 processors.
