I 've ended up with quite a few white IBM chips of various types that I havent been able to identify but are really nice looking. After trying a couple of different ways I came up with the following method.

Take a new razor and hammer it into two opposite sides, the pictures say it all. So far I have done 5 and all have come out perfect!

Cruel!
I often do the same:-/

I guess there's no chance to use acetone or whatever to crack the glue.

Unfortuntely not, I tried all kinds of methods including soaking in MEK overnight Twisted Evil The look on my wifes face while she was cooking dinner 2 feet away and I am hammering a razor into a chip on the kitchen counter...priceless.
It works really well though, I've done about 10 now and found some really nice looking chips underneath although I doubt any are actually cpus they will be an addition to the interesting pretty white chip collection Very Happy

Never ever use a Hammer on a CPU. That's worse than the "boiling" idea.
