While searching desperately for a new CPU for my Averatec c3500 (the older chip AMD Athlon 2200+ AXMT2200GWS4C had burnt out). I came across the statement that '' The fastest socket 563 CPU is Athlon XP-M 2400+ AXMD2400GJQ4C. '' in one of the forums here. So I bought one and it works fine...yeahhhhh. Very Happy But my computer recognizes the chip as the old chip. Even after updating the bios version and uninstall/reinstalling the driver. I would not mind the additional performance available. I wish there was a AXMD2400GJQ4D or better so that my 333mhz capable mobo could run at 333mhz instead of 266mhz.

Smile I mean your TablePC based on SISM741 chipset which support Athlon XP CPUs on FSB 333 MHz. But from that what I know there weren't Athlon XP-M 563 pin on FSB 333 MHz.

I assure you that the chip is 563. I bought a Socket A chip in error, and learned this expensive lesson first hand. I then ran across the informtion stated above in my first post. Also, I miss took your last statement as an attempt to help rather than what it was; questioning the information I provided. I updated the SiSm741 driver. All this did was lower the video quality of my computer. I wish I could have rolled back the driver to my old one, but it is gone now. I was asking origionally about what would it take for the computer to recognize the new processor. And maybe realize the preformance available.

I understand you. What I wrote was that the mobo was 333mhz capable. Which agrees with your analysis of the SisM741. And if you look closely my statement that I wish there was a 2400+ AXMD2400GJQ4D means that I agree. Since 2400+ AXMD2400GJQ4C is all that there is. Note the C or D at the end which designates up to 266 or 333 respectively. Since it seems that nobody has info on making my computer recognize the 2400 as a 2400 and not a 2200, can anyone tell me how to get the correct video driver back. I have already tried ''rolling back'' to the old driver; but it must be lost. The new video settings and refresh rate suck.

OK, I went back to the SIS website and allowed it to detect what my system was and what driver it needed. I then downloaded the correct driver...installed and... viola' the graphics are back as they should be. Still have no luck with the original problem, even after un/re-installing the CPU driver. Any, help or am I just stuck with an underutilized CPU?

AXMD2400GJQ4C is what is in my laptop, and id swear that it was a microPGA .. a 754 socket, not this other... mentioned above....

Im still looking for an upgrade or even a down grade to get it working again !!!!
