I have two tower servers with Tyan Thunder i7505 (s2665) on them. Today they both run dual Xeon 2.0 Ghz CPUs L2 512 kB, FSB 400.
Now I am thinking of upgrading to faster CPUs with faster FSB.
According to the Tyan Thunder i7505 specs ( http://www.tyan.com/archive/products/html/thunderi7505_spec.html ) , it says FSB 533 and L2 512, and my question is related to the L2 cache;
What if I bought CPUs with a 1MB or 2MB L2 cache, would that still be possible to use with such a motherboard, despite that the spec says 512 kB? Would the only result be that the L2 memory above 512 KB would not be accessible, or would these CPUs not work at all in combination with that motherboard?
Thanks in advance! |
