Where do you see the old markings?
Those ns chips marked by Intel do exist.
I bought some from demotronic.
I sold one to zizmo1:-)
I still do have two with different dies (small and big NS logo)
There must have been a production problem somewhen and Intel bought NS ones.
That's the laugh, I guess _________________ You may use the photos I have posted here under CC BY-NC-SA license. |

That looks like the one you sold to zizzmo for $99?
$349 is a bit steep for asking. |

No need.. I have a couple of those chips as well. I remember nearly falling off my chair when I saw zizzmo buying it from you.
I dont get zizzmo's buying strategy.. buys lots of stuff at collector prices ( and sometimes WAY over collector prices) then tries to arb with a few bucks.
Yes, sometimes you will get lucky when someone wants to throw their money at you.. but I dont see this as a sensible investment.. either you collect and trade or you simply source from brokers to sell on eBay or here to collectors. How does it work again.. buy low, sell higher? |

Here is a NS 5202 which is similar, yet not the same as a 1702
Most likely the basis of the remark
Consider that Intel used NS as a second source (as well as Mostek, MFI, and AMD) during this period, there is no reason for Intel to remark a second sourced chip, they simply would have a customer buy from the 2nd source.
Would be curious to see a die photo. _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

as it probably should.
If Intel did infact use National parts, it would be more likely that they would have bought dies, and packaged them, as remember packaging is almost always thrid party (NGK Kyocera, etc) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

I think this is a Microsystems Internatonal Limited 1702 ( not A ) eprom.
I read it in a erased state = FF
I tried to program it on ProLog900 + PM9001A adapter failed showing not erased state ( FF )
Programmed it on a Modified Tenor 763 programmer Ok
The die shows 1601 and IIIL Logo !
Due to the different nature of the data output ( inverted via the 1702A ) i think this is a fake.
