I know the one you mean, another fourm member here has a similar one in their collection.
I'll not be bidding, I dont trust that seller, he shill bids and I'll only feel dirty buying from him. Good luck to the buyer - please post more pics and maybe test the cpu when you get it! |

No i do not believe that it is a fake. I have seen one or two before from somewhat reliable sellers. I still do not see the point in faking this.
1. If i where to produce a fake like this to fool a potential buyer back in the days when a Pentium Pro where $500 i would fake speed or model indication, not remove them.
2. If i where to take the time to produce a fake to fool collectors there is no business in producing one. Certainly not with some what believable quality. I would produce plenty of them to either earn some real cash or at least to get paid for equipment and time. So, until the day these pop up in every other auction i would say its genuine. _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. I do not trust that seller either and will not bid. Known under several aliases and shill bids on his/her own items. _________________ My collection: http://www.cpucollection.se :::::: http://www.chipdb.org Photos of chips you never knew existed. Now over 6000 different chips in the database. |

i dont think they are faking for "collector" too
but i guess they are on the mid-way of faking for user
here is some example of faking (PS not mine)
http://greatcat.myweb.hinet.net/cpu/cpu586/remark/remark.html
although in chinese
regards!
Lee
PS: the story of the first picture in english is
" this chip with incomplete marking is from a friend of mine , he got caught by the police while faking chip and when he went out of jail.
the price of this type chip fell to that of a stone... " |
