motherboard: MSI K9N ultra
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4400+ (brisbane)
original BIOS version: 3.6

After updating the bios to 3.8, I can change the freq under "CPU Frequency Configuration" (to 11.5x 200) but the "Current CPU Clock" and "Current FSB Multiplier" doesn't change. It saves the 11.5x but the CPU still runs at 2000MHz. The CPU was fine at 2300MHz before the update.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

You might not be doing anything wrong per say, ide flash it back to the last bios and see if its definatly the flash thats causing this to happen, but it probly is, ive seen lots of time where a new bios flash will add or take away options that the earlier bios had, and to be honest if you werent having any trouble with the old bios ide leave it.

I've tried to install the old bios, but It needs to be booted from a Win98/ME boot disk and I don't have a floppy drive and I use Vista. Is it possible to update the bios from Vista without a FDD?

Maybe i know that Asus and some others have a small utility that will do it in windows, go to the manufacturers website and see what they have to offer, ive also seen bootable cd s that will flash it as well.

Thanks for your help, I put back the original bios and the CPU now runs at it correct speed, and it don't even need to be set up. Very Happy
