I recently replaced the mobo in my emachines t5026 to a intel d945gcpe.
I used the same cpu pentium 4 519 @3.06 ghz,but needed to upgrade ram so I got 2gb ddr2 533mhz.Win xp home.Problem is even with new board,more ram,faster ram,she is slow.

since the board supports c2duo,dual core,p4 1066/800/533 fsb i was thinking about upgrading cpu,but really how much faster would it be and what cpu should i get?

main question is : too slow to do what ? Depending on the answer, changing cpu can help a little, or a lot...

Well, most anything, but video (editing, burning)is real annoying,as I was told more ram, faster board she should wake up.

I used the same cpu,but the new board required ddr2 533 or faster ram(
my old stuff was pc 3200 ddr @400 mhz and only 512 mb.Now i got 2 gigs of faster stuff and she doesn't render any quicker.

I'm looking at core2duo but the speeds are slower than my 3.06 p4
which is why I was asking for recomendations/help.

The ram is not the problem 2gig is good for almost anything. core 2 duo's are amazingly fast. Do not be thrown by the mhz they do much more each clock cycle than pentium 4's. Most video editing software does not utilize 4 cores yet so a 2 core chip may be your best bet. You should be able go get one quite sufficiently fast for under 200. If you want to know how fast exactly below is the link to toms hardware cpu charts. Your old one is on there along with all your options just pic your aplication and see what your improvement will be.
