|
|
| I have an Athlon XP2100 and a K7S41GX board. I want to upgrade the board to something newer that uses pci express. My budget dictates that i can only do one at a time. So the board needs to support my 2100 and in a few months a new processor. Any help would be greatly welcome. As i am close to booting my slow performing system out the window. PLEASE help. |

You must change both cpu and motherboard.
You can try amd am2 socket cpus and motherboards, they are cheap.
DDR2 ram is low priced at the moment.
You can have a new system for cheap (100-150€). |

There are no socket a (for AthlonXP) motherboard with PCI-E.
And there's no sense in using old DDR memory now.
DDR2 is better and twice as cheap
The best way is to buy new motherboard+minimum CPU (sempron AM2 or celeron S775)+DDR2. _________________ My Want List: http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22729
