AMD Athlon 64 3700 - RevE4 and E6 - Compatib and differences

I have read the "CPU compatibility list by Motherboard" (http://www.cpu-world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5573) in this forum and have some further thoughts:

I've got an Abit AX8 Ver 1 (motherboard).
For this board I want to use an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego.
There is two revisions (or "Stepping" which is the term they use at Abit) to chose between for this CPU:

and the E6: http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=99.
As you can see in the attached links they are almost the same kind of CPU - only the voltages that differs: It's 1.35V/1.40V for the E4 and 1.35V for the E6. There are in fact some differences in the stepping codes though:
The E4: AABHE, CABGE , CABHE , KAB3E, KABYE and KABZE (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%203700%2B%20-%20ADA3700DAA5BN%20(ADA3700BNBOX).html);
and the E6: CCBIE, CCBWE, LCBBE and LCBIE (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%203700%2B%20-%20ADA3700DKA5CF%20(ADA3700CFBOX).html)
- but I really don't know what the "stepping codes" means - nor the differences between them (I would really appreciate some information about the stepping codes - what it means in general, and the differences between them here).
As the E6 is newer I think I would prefer it
But at Abits website http://www.abit.com.tw/cpu-support-list/amd/amd-athlon64-s.htm the E6 revision isn't mentioned as you can see. Just the E4. This seems a little strange to me - as they almost have the same characteristics'.
My questions are:
1. Could this be due to the Abit website hasn't been updated with the newer Revision E6?
2. Or is it simply because the Abit AX8 doesn't support the Rev E6?
3. Or is it just that the listed CPU:s are not officially supported - but the Abit AX8 would probably work with the E6 in the same way that it's working with the AMD Opteron's - that isn't officially supported either (several users uses this combination). (But then again, what would be the meaning with the CPU compatibility lists by Motherboards in that case?)
4. Last but not the least, will it bee any advantageous to use the E6 instead of the E4 (I will use the system to play around with, and learn more about, overclocking)?

So, if there is anyone with experience from using an "AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego Rev 6" on an Abit AX8 - or having other experience in the field of using not officially supported CPU:s in common for the 939 socket that could be applicable in this specific case - I would be happy to take part of all the information you can give in this subject.
