Hi all, I wonder if someone could help me, im thinking of buying a new motherboard and also a processor but I cant get any information regarding compatibility, ie, will the chip work in the board. Ive checked out MSI's site and the chips not listed yet so cant tell. Anyone any ideas?

CHIP - AMD Sempron 64 LE-1250, 2.1Ghz, 512kb L2 Cache, 45W (Mfr SDH1250DPBOX)

BOARD - MSI S754 VIA K8M800 MATX A L (Mfr K8MM3-V)

Thanks in advance!

It's a socket 754 board. SDH1250DPBOX and any other socket AM2 processors won't work in this board. CPU support page for the board:

Thanks for the reply, ive searched dabs.com for a compatible processor in the list but it seems that for the board they are selling they have no compatible processors to go with it! how bizarre!

Failing that, what would you suggest for the best processor for Gigabyte Socket 775 Intel 865G Micro ATX 6CH Audio LAN mfr GA8I865GME775RH also from dabs? (wish they had pre sales support, it would make life so much easier!)

i can recommend pentium dual core e2180 will almost certainly overclock to 2,66 ghz and is cheap (as you had a sempron in mind) - but not in stock - why not buy in a different store?

Thanks for that, only reason I tend to stick with dabs is because I have an account there and also because they are the cheapest and fastest at delivery than anyone else ive come across. I did notice that they had the Intel Core Duo E2160 S775 1.8GHz in stock, do you think this would work? ive had a look on gigabytes compatibility list but all core duo chips are labelled n/a (not support)

Ok, ive decided to scrap the micro ATX option as it was limiting my options and go for ATX, even though it will need a new case ive plumped for ;

Mobo : ASRock S775 VIA PT880 ATX GLAN
Proc : Intel Core Duo E2160 S775 1.8GHz
Fan : Akasa INTEL LGA775 3U HEATPIPE CU BASE LO-NOISE PWM FAN
Case : CoolerMaster Elite 330 ATX No PSU

And im going to put my old 2x1gb 2700 ddr in and power it with the old 230w psu

(If anyones interested, this is a build im doing for a friend who inadvertantly blew his board and chip!)

Anyway, does the above sound ok?

Regards

Well that worked a treat, word of warning though, the case and the fan i ordered dont go too well together! ended up having to use the stock fan that came with the chip, other than that, all went well!
