A few questions so I can get to know all you guys a little bit better - stuff that isn't below your avatar, and general stuff that interests me..
1. Why do you collect CPU's?
2. What was your first CPU in your collection?
3. How many Chips do you have in your collection
4. What do you collect?
5. How long have you been collecting for?
6. What chip do you long for?
Of course some of these answers will change, so feel free to go back and edit them as time goes by.... _________________ 4000+ chips.

1. I like hunting for non-living collectibles - and chips came across the street. No, It happened by chance when I saw the first CDIP with gold lid while searching the junk jard of my company for a usable computer.
2. As a single chip it was that above mentioned chip: a inmos A IMSG171S-35, date code 8805. A totally boring middle-aged ROM chip.
3. never counted but almost all "first-chips" of all manufacturers and frequencies, and as they were made in ceramic also those samples. less than 10 missing, I guess (I didn't start with eastern chips yet, still awaiting slava's pm:-). interesting supportchips and all Intels four-digit-naming-convention-chips (ending with 01 like 1101, 2101, 3101, 3301, 5101) too.
4. Complete computers, boards and chips from the early beginning up to about the first pentiums. But I only spend money for items from the 70ies (exceptions of course possible).
5. I begun in early 2000.
6. As I sold a C4040 ES by mistake (or better beginners stupidness) it would be a great thing to get it back sometimes. |

1. I collect more than CPUs but started only with them. I started my collecting by pulling CPUs out of upgrades, then I seen some of your collections online and I kind of went nuts with it... Now that I am retiring thing must slow down...
2. My first chip was a pull from an upgrade. I think it was probably from a packard bell packmate and it was a 486SX25.
3. I have just over 900 intel chips.
4. I only collect Intel due to wanting to be able to see some kind of reasonable end to my collection. That is why my site focuses on the 1970s as there are a finite number of chips to be collected.
5. About four years?
6. I have several chips that I long for X8008, G8008, X8080, 8080B, C8080C , 1602, C8035 , and most any chip that I don't have from the 1970s. |

1. Why do you collect CPU's?
I use to collect coins, but CPU's seemed to be a much better way to go, think about it, CPUs have been around for barely 35 years, so much history in such a short period of time makes collecting them very exciting.
2. What was your first CPU in your collection?
I really dont remember, But I think it was a 8088
3. How many Chips do you have in your collection
I have over 2000 CPU's / EPROM in my collection.
4. What do you collect?
Every CPU, MCU, and FPU, and now have expanded to UV-EPROMs
5. How long have you been collecting for?
I started in 1998 or 1999
6. What chip do you long for?
C4004 Grey, C4004, Cyrix Joshua, Cyrix MII 433 or 466, C1701, National 5203 (white) _________________ New for 2025! The CPU Shack has a co-processor!

1. Why do you collect CPU's?
I thought I'd be the first when I started, and be able to pioneer such a collecting phenomenon. Apart from that, I have always been interested in PC's, and it seemed appropriate - I'm a bit of a collectomaniac aswell, and it's nice to harness all my energy into one subject.
2. What was your first CPU in your collection?
As I own a computer shop, I had loads of old chis lying around, none were special really - perhaps a texas instruments dx4-100 colour was the best I had back then
3. How many Chips do you have in your collection
To date - 478, nearly part of the 500 club
4. What do you collect?
I collect CPU's, and occasionally FPU's. mostly Intel AMD Cyrix & IBM. I include different stepping codes, voltages, and printings
5. How long have you been collecting for?
Since spring 2004, so coming up to 2 years
6. What chip do you long for?
With out a doubt the IBM PR266 Black top! Oh, and always te rare chip tha nobody else has seen yet... _________________ 4000+ chips.

1. Why do you collect CPU's?
I started out gathering processors to test my CPU ID code on, then realised I had a reasonable collection and decided to build on it.
2. What was your first CPU in your collection?
The one that prompted me to start collecting properly was a TI 486SXL-25 (packaged as a "Make-it 486" 386DX upgrade chip).
3. How many Chips do you have in your collection
22 Jan 2006 update:
115 unique processors plus about 130 duplicates.
4. What do you collect?
Mostly 386/7 and compatible (although I tend to stop at around 1GHz because of price).
5. How long have you been collecting for?
About 4 years, of which only the last few months have been serious.
6. What chip do you long for?
Nx686, RapidCAD, C&T 386 clones, IBM 486BLX/2/3 _________________ My graphics card database can be found at http://www.gpuzoo.com.
