I think it isn't a VLB slot. Some 386 mainboards use a very similar connectors for propertiary memory expansion modules.
I think I have a 386 MB with memory expansion slot somewhere in my hardware collection. |

i am not familiar with VL-bus
but my 486MB's vl-bus seem to be made by two slot. the longer one is near the ISA slot
however , this one is have a shorter slot near the ISA slot
there is some print near the slots
the RAM:ROW0-8
the ISA:
slot1a-slot1b
slot2a-slot2b
...
slot 7a
the unknow slot
slot8B slot8A
slot9B slot9A
i think it is a slot for cache just as Qwerty's opinion !? |

| Ah yes, it is the same slot type as VL, but as you say, probably some kind of external module. It must be over 15 years since I last used a VL Bus board. |

I dont think this is a VL-bus, bucause the configuration is different from the above one, just as lither said.
we can also find that the slot 8a ,slot 8b is a independ slot, but VL-bus has also a ISA slot for its one part.
See one picture of VL-bus on a Sis 486 mainboard. |
