| I am thinking about upgrading the cpu on my Matsonic MS8308E Motherboard. The book says the board supports AMD Athlon XP, Athlon/Duron processors. Supports 200/266 MHz front-side bus. I currently have an Athlon 900MHz -Thunderbird processor on the board. I would like to upgrade it the the fastest processor it can handle. This will be my last upgrade. I see some processors on ebay are available. What cpu would I look for? Would the upgrade be worth the cost? Would I see that much difference in the preformance of my computer? I am running windows XP Home. |

Unfortunately the matsonic site is dead, I think your motherboard support surely the fastest Athlon thunderbird with FSB266 available
AMD Athlon 1400 - A1400AMS3C
or alternatively with FSB 200
AMD Athlon 1400 - A1400AMS3B
I don't think it support Athlon XP+ CPU's, you can see an example here
http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/A7S-VM.html
this motherboard has the same chipset like yours, and don't support XP processors |
